Sweden and Finland are expected to hand in their applications to join NATO, despite Turkey threatening to veto the move.

The Swedish and Finnish Prime Ministers say they are confident a deal can be done, and insist it is the best way to protect themselves in the light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

That has forced a reappraisal of both country’s defence, including places like Gotland in the Baltic Sea.
