The United States says it will provide an extra $713m in aid to Ukrainian efforts to repel Russian forces in the ongoing conflict.

$322m of will go now directly to the government in Ukraine with $165m for ammunition costs.

The additional $713m will be used for buying equipment from former Soviet Union countries, authorities say.
