Spain captain suffers injury scare after security guard slides into him during celebrations

Spain’s captain Alvaro Morata was seen limping and holding his knee after a security guard slipped and slid into him after his side’s semi-final win over France.

Morata, who was substituted after 76 minutes, was seen in pain after the incident which happened as Spain’s players were celebrating in front of their fans.

Reports have suggested a fan tried to get a selfie with some of the players and the security guard was trying to intervene when he slipped.

National coach Luis de la Fuente later said: “Alvaro… We have to wait and see tomorrow.

“We believe it’s nothing. It hurts, but we think it’s nothing.”

Spain will face either England or the Netherlands in Sunday’s Euro 2024 final, after beating France 2-1.

Their victory saw them become the first side to win six consecutive games at the Euros without the need for penalties.
